Am I ready for my test

Please read and consider the information here, carefully

IMPORTANT, if all the statements below are true and you identify with them, then I am willing to talk about a date for your test

Consider these points before answering

  • The examiner has to let you drive without any input from him. He isn't going to help you, you have to make the important decisions like, should I go at this junction, is it safe?

  • Am I in the correct lane?

  • Is it safe to do what I am doing?

  • Will my car fit through that gap?

  • Can I confidently, safely keep control of my car at up to 70mph?

  • Can I assure myself that I am safe, the examiner is safe, pedestrians and other road users are safe.

  • Am I fully independent when driving the car?

Ask this of yourself

  • Can your instructor sit silent and not have to intervene or assist in anyway. Remember during the test you are expected to be a confident, safe independent driver.

Try it next time in the car, be honest with yourself, this isn't about passing a test, it's about being a safe driver for life, to keep the roads safe, its not a game.

I found this that somebody on the internet had posted and it sums it up about being test ready

"When my instructor didn't have to help me out anymore and was basically silent during my lessons.

My test is next month and I feel I've been ready for a month or so now because driving feels more like second nature.

I feel like I can talk and drive at the same time now! I used to not be able to because I was so focused on the driving, but I can do both now and be alright. Might be a small thing for others, but for me it feels important!"
